This is just a pure, simple shot; no flash, no tripod, no focus stacking. The only trick was trying to keep the sensor plane of my camera parallel to the butterfly as it walked around the flower. I waited for the butterfly’s proboscis to be extended to take the shot. The nice thing about shooting with a m4/3 camera is that at f/5.6 I get the same depth of field as f/11 on a full frame camera, but with the full light transmission of f/5.6. This shot was taken on the shortgrass prairie of eastern Colorado in Otero County.
